ABOUT

The Full Story

My name is Debra McCoy.  I have loved numbers and the relevance of their applications to every aspect of human lives all of my life!  My first job was at an insurance agency in 1981 in Nashville, Tennessee.  I worked in that agency for 3 years before I would go to college and pursue a degree in finance where I double-majored in Finance (with an emphasis on insurance) and Estate Planning.

Upon graduation, I opened an insurance agency as a captive agent for Farmers Insurance Group of Companies in Nashville.  I turned the agency back over to the company after five years because I wanted to work, more comprehensively, around my degree and I couldn't do that as a captive agent representing only one company and their products.  I accepted a position, after my experience with Farmers Insurance Group, with a company that offered investment advisory services that would put all of my experience and knowledge to better use.  We consulted with high net worth individuals and their financial needs which included personal investments, trusts, custodial accounts, retirement planning, pension and profit sharing plans and 401-K administration.

In 1997, my husband and I moved to Greenville, South Carolina.  I continued my employment with Cambridge Equity Advisors until I became a mom.  For the next several years my focus was my husband and children until my entrepreneurial desire was sparked again with the idea of creating and managing fund raisers for art teachers in elementary schools in North Carolina and South Carolina.  I started a manufacturing business that would produce the primary product used that when sold, would generate a donation, as a percentage of sales, to the art teachers at their respective schools.  I came to love the kids, their families and the art teachers and continued this pursuit until 2018.  We sold the company at just the right time as Covid came in 2020 and we would not have been allowed to facilitate our fund raisers in the schools.

I "rested" for 2 years until my sister passed away in 2020...from Covid.  It was the experience I had while helping to plan her "end of life" needs that triggered my renewed interest in estate planning.  My step-father then passed in 2021 and my mother passed away in 2022.  All three of those precious lives were not for nothing!  I became obsessed with sharing my own experience and knowledge with helping others.  After my mother passed away, we moved back to Tennessee to help with remaining family members and their struggles with all things that come with elderly living.  While here and after the successful closing of my mother's trust, I just couldn't stop there.  I decided to get back into what I have always loved so much and started my business...helping others create what, I think, is the most beautiful gift one can bestow their loved ones.  Estate planning.  Put all of your instructions in one place, organized beautifully, so that they can tie up loose ends and move on to celebrating the life they loved so much...yours.
